Step 1: Open a cmd prompt (Admin Prompt): type "set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1"

Step 2: Open Device Manager (If device manager was open when running step 1, then close and reopen)

Step 3: As suggested above "Enable Show Hidden Devices", now you should see the dummy lan adapter which was not visible earlier. Delete it and then you can rename the existing NIC
